We're thrilled!

The (Re)Invention of the "Chanson française"
The "Chanson française" has been a hallmark of French culture since the beginning of the 20th century. This tradition of singer-songwriters place a particular focus on the use of the French language -- its poetry, its lyricism, and its imagery. This week's show will propose a broad overview of how this genre has evolved from early precursors like the 19th century "poètes maudits," to its mass-market breakthrough in the postwar period, to today's global influences.
