Tonight on the Thursday Night Feature on WXYC showcases music recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Beginning in the early 1960s, the studios in Muscle Shoals churned out R&B, pop, country, and rock hits for hundreds of musicians, all of whom converged on the town to bring the coveted gritty production quality to their recordings. At one point during the 1970s, the area christened itself the “Hit Recording Capital of the World.” Tune in to hear both familiar and the lesser known tracks as we sample the Muscle Shoals sound.
